I have been working as an Early Childhood Educator since 2010. I began my career in England, where I gained my Early Years Professional Status and Masters Degree in Education. I have worked with all ages from 0-12 years. I spent many happy years working in childcare in England.
Myself and my boyfriend decided we wanted to explore more, and made the choice to move to Canada. After a long process, we moved to British Columbia in 2017. Where I began building my career again. Canada has been a dream for us, and we have enjoyed spending time exploring and enjoying this beautiful place.
I am ready for my next adventure (or Challenge); and enrolled in the PIDP (Provincial Instructor Diploma Program) with the hopes of being able to share my passion with others. The field of ECE is ever changing, and we as Educators must be dynamic to maneuver and flow with these. My passion runs deep in all that I do, and I feel that I can share this and inspire others.
As an adult learner I am always wanting to broaden my horizons, and expand my mind. I learn with practical and hands on learning. Although I do like to understand the theories behind what I am learning. I have created this blog to share my reflections of learning, and the pressures of life and work as an ECE. I want to write this blog to share the different trends working in the ECE field.
A bit more about me… I have two dogs, Esther and Penny; they are both Miniature Australian Shepherds. Both of my dogs spend time working in the childcare centre with me. I believe having the dogs at the centre helps to support the personal and emotional growth of children and educators working there. In our spare time we undertake dog agility training, which helps to keep their brains busy and bodies active. (It also keeps me on my toes too!) One of my favourite places to go is up on the Sunshine coast, British Columbia.
